Gabion calculator
Fill stone, overfill, bracing wires and the crushed stone base for gabion walls, slim screens, benches and pillars.

How it is worked out
A filled basket weighs about 1.7–1.8 t per m³. Overfill 25–50 mm on top. The smallest stone must be at least 1.5 times the mesh opening (see 9.2 and 9.4).
Baskets up to about 450 mm tall need no bracing wires; 500 mm baskets get one set at half height and 1 m baskets two sets, at a third and two thirds, with two wires on each face that shows.
The base is 200 mm of compacted crushed stone, 50 mm wider than the baskets on each side (see 9.3).
